I explore the transient nature, purpose and interconnecting relationships of random moving figurative groupings and their interaction with the space around them and expressing my personal response to co-occupying the space communicates a sense of displacement and a question of belonging and relevance within that space. Drawing and photographic studies, enable me to abstract the essence of form, space and colour for my paintings. Oil paint, my main medium communicates more desirably the sense of continual movement and fluidity of the form within my work. Painterly mark making, a limited colour pallet and a large canvas enhances the suggestion of mood and place, creating a more engaging visual experience, and encourages the viewer to explore further, the form and space of the painting.
